Wolverines trending for top target, potential commitment – 247Sports

With an announcement pending for some point in the day on Friday, Michigan is in full control of the 247Sports Crystal Ball for 2023 three-star offensive lineman Nathan Efobi, who has been recruited as a top target for the Wolverines for the last few months. All four predictions currently favor the Maize and Blue.
The Cumming (GA) prospect was on campus for Michigan’s BBQ at the Big House in July, back in September for the Wolverines’ win over Maryland and is expected to return to campus in December for an official visit.

The trip for the Maryland game put the Wolverines in prime position for an eventual commitment from Efobi as he told TMI’s Brice Marich that Michigan led. The first 247Sports Crystal Ball, from Marich, soon followed.
“My visit was amazing,” Efobi told TMI coming out of the trip. “Got to go on the field and see how the players warmed up. After the game, I got to go to the locker room and meet the players. After, I got to touch the facilities and do a photo shoot.”
Michigan views Efobi as a malleable player up front as he could play anywhere across the line. He is believed to be a high ceiling type prospect and is currently ranked 31st at the ‘interior line’ spot in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
In the midst of a 20-2 stretch over the last two seasons, Michigan coaches are hoping to see the product of that on the recruiting trail in the 2023 recruiting cycle as they look to build off of a strong 2022 haul.
The Wolverines currently have e verbal commitments in 2023, led by Acheampong, four-star Enow Etta, in-state four-star RB Cole Cabana, four-star linebacker Semaj Bridgeman. Four-star tight end Deakon Tonielli, three-star running back Benjamin Hall and three-star skill players Semaj Morgan (WR) round out their current offensive commitments. The current class is rounded out by three-star defensive lineman Brooks Bahr and three-star kicker Adam Samaha, who may be the top prospect in the country at his position.
The Wolverines have a completely new look in their recruiting department as well. Out are Courtney Morgan (Washington) and Aashon Larkins (Ole Miss) and in are former recruiting staffer Albert Karschnia (Central Michigan), director of player personnel Tom Gamble and legendary Wolverine quarterback Denard Robinson (Jacksonville Jaguars). New defensive line coach Mike Elston is also in as the team’s recruiting coordinator, coming over from Notre Dame.
The hiring of Robinson in particular is being viewed as an exciting one as he is one of the most visible representatives of the program in the last 25 years.
“Denard is an energetic guy who always has a smile on his face,” Jim Harbaugh said in a released statement after Robinson’s hire went official. “He will be a positive addition to our program in both the player personnel and player development areas. Denard has been an active member of this campus and we know he will bring that same enthusiasm and love for Michigan to our building every day. We are excited to have Denard back home at Michigan helping our team.”
